Official Statement on the July 2025 Yearly Auctions Incidents

Written by Admin | Aug 20, 2025 8:35:33 AM

In July 2025, during the annual capacity auctions conducted on the PRISMA platform, a technical malfunction occurred that required the repetition of 21 selected yearly auctions to safeguard market integrity and fairness.

Upon identifying the problem, PRISMA acted immediately, collaborating closely with Transmission System Operators (TSOs) to manage the situation. Manual interventions were conducted both by TSOs and our PRISMA operations team to swiftly restart the affected auctions. Despite the tight timelines, the coordination was effective, ensuring minimal disruption for market participants.

A targeted software fix was implemented overnight, fully resolving the underlying technical issue. Throughout the incident, critical auction information remained accessible via the PRISMA platform, ensuring ongoing transparency.

At PRISMA, we hold the stability, reliability, and transparency of our auction services as our highest priorities. We sincerely regret any uncertainty or inconvenience this incident caused to shippers, TSOs, and other stakeholders.

To prevent recurrence, we are conducting a comprehensive technical and organizational review, which will be completed and shared with relevant stakeholders. In parallel, we are accelerating key platform upgrades designed to enhance system resilience, improve communication flows, and prepare for the growing complexity and volume of auctions within the European gas market.

We thank all affected parties for their understanding, professionalism, and constructive collaboration during this challenging event. PRISMA remains fully committed to providing a robust, dependable auction platform and will continue to keep the market informed on our progress and improvements.
