ENTSOG informs about the first demand assessment for Incremental Capacity in 2017

The first market demand assessment for incremental capacity, as the start of an incremental capacity process, shall be conducted in 2017 as from the entry into force of the CAM NC amendment.

Incremental capacity process

The amendment of the CAM NC foresees provisions for an incremental capacity process. The amended CAM NC is expected to entry into force in early April 2017. The first market demand assessment for incremental capacity, as the start of an incremental capacity process, shall be conducted in 2017 as from the entry into force of the CAM NC amendment.

No later than 8 weeks after the start of the incremental capacity process, non-binding demand indications for incremental capacity shall be submitted by network users to the affected Transmission System Operators. Based on the demand expressed by the network users, Transmission System Operators will create demand assessment reports, which evaluate the prospective need for incremental capacity and which state whether an incremental capacity project will be initiated.

The market demand assessment report will be published on the websites of the concerned Transmission System Operators no later than 16 weeks (expected in July 2017) after start of the incremental capacity process.

ENTSOG will inform stakeholders about the entry into force date (also the start of the incremental process) once the CAM NC amendment will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

ENTSOG would like to emphasize that the first market demand assessment for Incremental capacity will not be initiated by an annual yearly auction on 6 March 2017.
